George Krol I remember from 1982, when he was a young diplomat in martial law Poland and I was an American teenager who'd been picked up by the ZOMO security forces. I got away from them and ran to the embassy. George met with me, told me how to be careful, took my report, gave me some kind words, gave his perspective on how he thought the place would just keep blowing up until tyranny was gone. I remember liking him. He was a first secretary then. I still have his card. Eeerie. I am glad to read he's still doing good work. This has to be him.
