That was so...what I would think a pop band would look like if it was designed by a group of middle aged men who didn't listen to pop music when they were young.

Sounded like it too. No offense, but what was with the creepy older guy who'd bust out a base line or two now and again through out the song? Why was the lead singer dressed in a kind of pixie outfit while the rest of the band were running with this "Reservoir Dogs" meets "The Bee Gees" theme?

<i>lukashenko in a few years…
“wir musten der democratie und seine Begleiterscheinungen aus Belarus auszurotten”
off course not in german… i hope

I don't think Lukashenkos going to get too rowdy...he has to be aware Putin could have him killed any afternoon he chooses to. Belarus is condemned to play the role as Belgium to Russias Germany except without France on the other side of them to lean on.

Yeah, it struck me how overtly patriarchal the lyrics are: the oppressed people is being indoctrinated to think of the dictator as their "Father" -- a stern-but-always-right paternal figure.

Which is of course utterly pathological and perverse. If he's every Belarussian's "Daddy", then what is his wife (or his mistresses)?

Sick, sick, sick.

I bet Alan Watts would have an interesting thing or two to say about this too :-) (check out his podcast on iTunes!)

Could mistaking the parent-child relationship as basically political really be the loophole that makes Orwellianism work?

WONDERFUL lyrics.
Now try and sing the tune with these alternate lyrics:

Ugly and grim
A teacher of evil
Shenka loves goats
Shenka blows goats -- everyone knows it

He loves goats
He is out of his mind
He just enters the farmhouse – and you see
Who is the animal lover in the house

Chorus:

Na-na-na-na-na-na-na
Shenka blows goats!
In the morning, day, and night...
He's not my Daddy!
If you feel bad
You've been listening to Shenka!
If you are ok
Shenka will stop it!!!
